As the Chief Designer, fabric selection holds a special place for me at Wirra Wirra. The brand chooses organic cotton certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or OCS (Organic Content Standard), representing less than one percent of global cotton production. This organic cotton is grown in pollution-free areas, untouched by contamination from air, water, or soil. Wirra Wirra also ensures the avoidance of genetically modified crops. To ensure the highest quality, I personally participate in the GOTS assessment process and visit the fields where the organic cotton is produced. This firsthand experience allows me to appreciate the rawness and power of nature while cherishing its precious creations.

Transition to Organic Production:

Transitioning from conventional to organic cotton production requires a strict conversion period of three years before the first certification application for crop harvest. Throughout this period, full compliance with organic production requirements is essential, including three rounds of crop rotation without any harvest. The harvested crops are plowed back into the soil to serve as natural fertilizers. Organic fertilizers, such as animal manure, are used during the sowing and planting processes. Only crops grown in fields after one year of organic conversion can bear the genuine "organic serial number." Each thread of organic cotton represents the dedication and effort put into protecting the environment.
